ABOUT THE ROLE
As a member of the Healthier World Initiative, you will be working every day for a healthier, more sustainable world. Our mission is to prevent insect borne disease among the world’s most vulnerable. We aim to provide public health products that are effective, safe, and economically sustainable at scale. The efforts of this initiative have resulted in a World Health Organization policy recommendation for spatial emanators as a new product class for malaria prevention, the first such new class in decades, and in securing pre-qualification listings for two SCJ products. As a result, we are at an inflection point that marks the opportunity for making transformational impact. The R&D Manager position will play a leadership role in this next phase of growth. While the core elements of people, new product development, and business continuity management will be familiar, this role will provide an opportunity to contribute broadly to the mission and strategic direction of the broader initiative team as a technical, operational, and strategic thought leader.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Achieve the SCJ Healthier World Initiative Strategic Framework objective to prevent insect borne disease for 200M people cumulatively by FY30. This will be accomplished by developing the products, supply chain, policy environment, & markets needed to reach the most at-risk communities.
People leadership of an exemplary team of approximately 5 interdisciplinary individuals
Ensure End-to-End delivery, from scoping to start-up, of the new product development process. Guiding the team through the NPD Process, ensuring deliverables, success criteria, timing, and risk mitigation are clear and well executed. Driving integration with cross functional regional execution to ensure meeting delivery commitments
Organize & be accountable for non-E2E initiatives that advance scientific knowledge & technical rigor of our products & processes
Integrate R&D resources into initiatives related to achieving product registrations, maintaining WHO and regulatory compliance, enhancing sustainability & product stewardship, optimizing costs, and ensuring supply chain resiliency
Applying business acumen to understand key customer & market dynamics and developing technical plans that support initiative strategy & results
Drive engagement & communication across a wide range of cross-functional internal and external stakeholders
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in related fields
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
Demonstrated excellence in leading teams in complex projects or programs that resulted in the development and commercialization of new product launches. From the front end of ideation, user centered design, technical validation, installation of new equipment, qualification & validation testing, and production start-up
Experienced, with a track record of success, in working in highly regulated categories that involve the registration with government authorities of active substances and/or end use products
Technical breadth in research & product development skill adjacencies, such as competitive and IP landscaping, protecting IP through patents, sustainability, leveraging external partnerships, and working with common types of legal agreements
Demonstrates enterprise thinking, acting in the best interests of the broader organization, beyond their immediate team or function; excited to wear as many hats as it takes to create progress
Experience and acumen in working through partners, such as contract research organizations, external innovation firms, or suppliers, to extend the competencies of the internal organization
Enthusiasm for seeking out and applying new technical tools and capabilities to find better and more efficient ways of achieving success

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must have the ability to travel internationally, including Europe, LATAM, Africa, and Southeast Asia, approximately 10% travel
Full-time role at Sam’s campus, Mt. Pleasant, WI
Ability to lift 10 – 40 pounds
This role is eligible for domestic relocation
Remote work is available once per week for eligible employees
