SURROUNDING AREA
Racine is located on the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan in southeastern Wisconsin. The city is conveniently positioned between Milwaukee, Wisconsin — the largest city in the state — and Chicago, Illinois, the third largest city in the U.S.
With nearly 200,000 residents, Racine is the state’s fifth‑largest county, and it's part of the greater Milwaukee region of more than two million people.
Since it's founding, SCJ maintains a deep commitment to the area and contributes through philanthropy and community support. Focus areas include youth programming, educational efforts, community infrastructure and more.
SC Johnson Global Corporate Headquarters — Howe Street Campus
Our global corporate headquarters was designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Opened in 1939, the building is the only corporate headquarters that Wright built that remains operational. The iconic Research Tower opened in 1950 and led to the development of trusted brands including Raid®, Glade® and Pledge®.
In addition to the historic architecture at the campus, contemporary buildings of Forteleza Hall and Waxbird Commons complement and represent our company's future-focused vision.
Visitors are able to experience campus through free tours that explore the buildings and share SCJ history.
Administration Building and Research Tower Architecture
Frank Lloyd Wright called the SCJ Administration Building an architectural interpretation of modern business at its best. The iconic Great Workroom is just the beginning, featuring an open office plan decades ahead of its time, soaring columns, innovative modular furniture, glass Pyrex tubing windows and more.
The state-of-the-art Research Tower was a hub of innovation and discovery as the primary home of SCJ's Research and Development efforts from 1950 to 1982.
WAXBIRD COMMONS
Waxbird Commons is our newest redesigned building named after our company's first airplane, the Johnson Waxbird. As a company with a longstanding commitment to the environment, we've worked to implement updates to our campus that underscore — and bring to life — our sustainability efforts through an innovative, sustainable design.
The new building features a contemporary and collaborative design, with elements that focus on key historical moments that helped establish and guide the purpose and culture of our company today.
Forteleza Hall
The 60,000-square-foot, award-winning Forteleza Hall opened in 2010 and is a tribute to two pioneering company leaders: H.F. Johnson, Jr. and Sam Johnson.
The facility serves as a contemporary partner to the Administration Buildings. World-renowned architect Norman Foster designed the structure to incorporate glass and light, rounded shapes and edges, interplay between interior and exterior, soaring stone columns and innovative design.
