ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Associate Manager, Quality – Laboratory, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring SC Johnson’s products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. You’ll lead a team of skilled Quality Laboratory Technicians, guiding them to uphold rigorous analytical testing standards and global quality practices across all formulation phases.
In this role, you’ll partner closely with the Site Quality Manager to align site-level objectives with SCJ’s overarching quality strategies. Your expertise in chemistry, experimental design, and quality techniques will enable you to provide both technical and strategic leadership—ensuring chemical analyses are deployed effectively and maintained with precision. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to develop, implement, and interpret Key Performance Indicators designed to support the department’s initiatives.
Responsible with meeting safety, quality, cost, productivity & environmental goals through the promotion and support of a High-Performance Work Team.
Coach team members on all shifts to work together toward common goals, support high inter-shift communication and mutual respect. Grow the bench strength of the Waxdale Quality Laboratory team by providing in-house training and enabling internal growth potential.
Responsible for providing regular performance feedback and development of analytical laboratory staff. This function includes the evaluation of technical performance by administration of annual performance reviews of staff members, by the recommendation of salary increases and by the recommendation and implementation of skill development programs.
Monitors daily operations and provides job-specific direction and guidance to technicians.
Work with key internal functional areas (Processing, MHG, Production and Planning) to establish, measure and maintain quality performance, establish objectives, and execute to those objectives.
Manage capital projects and budgets as it pertains to the laboratory environment. Leading the preparation of the charter, execution plan, capital funding request, specifications, instrumentation list and updating procedures for new and modified processes.
Maintenance and improvement of the ISO9001 standards as well as other regulatory bodies as dictated by product portfolio.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelor’s degree in science or relevant discipline with at 5+ years of relevant work experience
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
This position requires thorough and updated knowledge of applicable quality techniques such as quality audit, new product development, applied statistics and method transfer and validation process
Demonstrated success leading teams
Minimum 2 years of people management experience leading teams
Knowledge and experience with wet chemistry, spectrophotometric, titrimetric, and chromatographic (GC and HPLC) analysis
Effective interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts and make presentations
Demonstrated experience within a continuous improvement environment utilizing Lean manufacturing principles
Change agent who can demonstrate skill in pacing, sequencing, and communicating change
Demonstrated skills at communicating throughout different levels of the organization
Experience with Quality Management Systems and the ISO 9001:2015 Standard
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Full-time onsite role in Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin
Up to 10% travel required, possibly including overnight
Must be able to push, pull, squat, stand and walk through-out the day
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
Must be able to wear safety shoes & glasses through-out the day while in designated areas (provided by the company)
Must be able to work in a chemical environment
This role is not eligible for relocation
