Join Our Team as a Senior Associate, Product Safety Engineer!
Are you passionate about ensuring the safety of consumer products? As a Senior Associate, you'll play a pivotal role in safeguarding the physical integrity of our innovative designs and market-ready products. Your expertise will be crucial in driving new product development and enhancing existing offerings. In this dynamic role, you will conduct comprehensive safety reviews to identify and mitigate risks, evaluate experimental products, consumer placements, and finished goods for potential hazards, develop robust test plans and apply industry standards to ensure top-notch safety, perform thorough risk assessments and generate essential documentation, and mentor and guide product development teams on physical safety aspects, fostering a culture of safety excellence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessing consumer products for physical safety hazards: child resistance, electric shock, fire, thermal burn, laceration, airway obstruction, etc.
Coordinating product testing and certification with contract test facilities
Providing internal teams technical guidance to mitigate electrical, mechanical, chemical, and materials engineering dependent safety hazards
Refining and maintaining current departmental processes and procedures
Utilizing project-related information, product information, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and technical literature to develop design hazard assessments for final determination of product approval
Preparing communications to upper management during product investigations
Providing physical safety support for discussions with various regulatory authorities or industry activities
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, or related degree with 2+ years relevant experience
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
Experience with hazard analysis and risk assessment
Experience with application of global standards and regulatory requirements
Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment, including R&D, marketing, legal, public relations and regulatory agencies
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong formal presentation skills
Product Management systems experience (i.e. SAP Product Lifecycle Management)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Full-time onsite role in Racine, WI
Office Work Environment: Remote work is available once per week for eligible employees
Up to 5% domestic travel
This role is not eligible for relocation assistance
