ABOUT THE ROLE
The SAP Technology Manager is responsible for the technical leadership, governance, and delivery of SAP solutions across the enterprise. In this role you will provide deep SAP expertise, oversee the end-to-end technical landscape, and ensure that SAP systems are reliable, scalable, secure, and aligned with business needs. Although this is an individual contributor role, you will have significant responsibility for managing vendor relationships, directing managed service teams, and influencing SAP technical strategy across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technology Leadership & Roadmap
Define and maintain the SAP technology roadmap in collaboration with enterprise architecture and functional leaders.
Evaluate emerging SAP technologies (S/4HANA, BTP, Integration Suite, automation, AI) and recommend adoption strategies.
Drive modernization initiatives such as system optimization, cloud enablement, and simplification of the SAP footprint.
Solution Architecture & Delivery
Serve as the SAP technical authority for architecture, integrations, custom development, and system design.
Provide hands-on leadership for solution design sessions, technical reviews, and quality assurance processes.
Guide global project teams and vendor resources in delivering scalable, high-quality SAP solutions.
Ensure solutions adhere to development standards, security requirements, and architectural governance.
Vendor & Managed Services Oversight
Manage day-to-day and strategic relationships with SAP managed service providers and external development partners.
Ensure vendors meet SLAs, quality expectations, and project delivery commitments.
Provide direction and oversight to external technical teams, clarifying requirements and reviewing deliverables.
Act as the escalation point for critical issues, coordinating with vendors and internal teams to resolve complex problems.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Act as a trusted SAP technical advisor to project managers, functional teams, and senior leaders.
Translate technical concepts into business language to support decision-making.
Facilitate requirement discussions and help prioritize enhancements, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of deep technical experience with SAP platforms, including architecture, development, and integration.
7+ years of experience working with or directing SAP managed services teams and external partners.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA, BTP, middleware/integration technologies, and SAP development frameworks.
Proven ability to lead without direct authority by influencing vendors, partners, and cross-functional teams.
Solid understanding of ITIL processes and SAP operational best practices.
Relevant SAP certifications (Technical Architect, SAP BTP, SAP Development).
Experience in global, complex SAP landscapes supporting multiple regions or business units.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to guide strategic technical decisions.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Full time with occasional operational support outside core business hours
Ability to travel ~20%
Office work environment: Remote work available once a week for eligible employees
