ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Modern Trade Head to drive the strategy and performance of our Modern Trade channel. In this role, you’ll lead sustainable, profitable growth across key retail partners, ensuring excellence in distribution, merchandising, sales, and market share while maintaining strong financial discipline. You’ll build strategic customer partnerships, lead annual negotiations and joint business planning, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver flawless execution of programs, promotions, and Perfect Store standards. Additionally, you’ll develop and inspire a high-performing sales team, strengthening capabilities and succession readiness in line with FMCG leadership standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Channel Development & Strategy– Develop and execute strategies for sustainable, profitable channel growth, including annual budget planning and sales target setting.

  • Customer Business Development – Identify growth opportunities, lead negotiations on trading terms and promotions, and manage joint business planning with key customers.

  • Customer Relationship Management – Build strong partnerships with customer decision-makers and selling teams to ensure seamless execution and unlock new opportunities.

  • Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Management – Work closely with Sales Ops, Marketing, Supply Chain, and regional teams to drive flawless execution and share best practices.

  • Market & Business Insights – Monitor performance, analyze trends and shopper insights, and oversee trade execution to deliver KPIs and anticipate challenges

  • Team Leadership & Development – Coach, develop, and inspire the Modern Trade team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and recognizing high performance

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Sales and Channel Management within the FMCG industry, covering both Modern Trade and General/Traditional Trade.

  • Proven track record in team leadership and people management, with the ability to inspire, develop, and retain high-performing teams.

  • Strong financial acumen and advanced analytical skills to drive data-informed decisions.

  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated expertise in problem-solving, decision-making, and delivering business growth.

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization

  • Resilient and adaptable under pressure, capable of delivering results within tight deadlines and limited resources.
