ABOUT THE ROLE
In the Target category captain and/or advisor role, you will be responsible for collaborating with the retailer to develop and implement strategy at Target to drive category performance objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides retailer-specific insights and recommendations based on data analyses and market research from a broad range of sources with a focus on results
Mines and analyzes data from sources such as syndicated scanner/panel, retailer POS, and JDA/space planning to create compelling, fact-based recommendations for both online and in store performance
Analyze and track performance gaps and opportunities, assortment, retail pricing, and trade promotions against competition to ensure Target is best in class
Cultivate internal and external cross functional relationships and bring creative solutions to grow category knowledge
Utilizes category and aisle expertise to provide shelf merchandising and item recommendations based on consumer insights
Build plan-o-grams using JDA software in collaboration with Target
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant business experience OR advanced degree and a minimum of 3+ years of relevant business experience
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
Retailer-facing and category management experience
Knowledge and understanding of the category management process and principles.
Ability to develop and execute an objective, fact-based presentation through storytelling.
Skilled in AOD/IRI, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and space management software (JDA Space Planning and/or Apollo).
Skilled in pulling, manipulating and analyzing syndicated point of sale and shopper panel data (Nielsen and/or IRI)
Accurately analyzes quantitative and qualitative data to uncover observations, insights and key learnings. Ability to develop retailer-specific strategic and tactical recommendations and solutions
Previous experience analyzing retailer-supplied point-of-sale data and retailer loyalty card data
Leadership Skills:
Strong presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required for building internal and external relationships and working on a high-performance team
Proactive and committed to delivering results in a fast paced, demanding work environment by fostering a sense of urgency, energy, ownership, and a curiosity to search for opportunities
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Up to 25% travel is the max expectation
Full-time onsite role in Target office, Minneapolis, MN
This role is not eligible for relocation
