Compensation Beyond Salary
In addition to a competitive base salary, our compensation programs reward both individual achievements and organizational results in many ways throughout the year.
Sharing Company Profits
We provide a direct share in the company’s financial success through profit sharing, a proud SCJ tradition since 1917. Here’s how it works:
- Company’s annual profits: at the end of the fiscal year, the company determines the amount of pre-tax profits to be contributed to the profit sharing pool, referred to as “Percent of Standard”
- Length of service and responsibility: as your service with SCJ increases, your share of the profits increases each year up to a maximum of 3 years. In addition, eligible positions within the company are categorized into one of three profit sharing groups based on level of responsibility. Both length of service and responsibility determine your, “Standard Profit Sharing Percent”
- Fiscal year eligible earnings: include your base wages, sickness or absence pay, holiday and vacation pay up to 52 weeks of pay. Excludes overtime, shift premiums or other payments
- Calculating your payment: the following is an example which illustrates how your profit sharing payment is calculated. Please note that profit sharing payments will vary based on factors listed above.
